Corporate Dress Codes are Getting a Refresh
Even before the pandemic, we were seeing casual dress becoming more common in the workplace. According to analysis from Indeed, “the percentage of workplaces that allow casual dress jumped from 32% to 50% in five years, and 62% of workplaces in its analysis have at least one casual dress day a week.” Last year many of us were faced with remote working environments, and casual dress became the norm. T-shirts and “soft pants” were the new dress code. Fashion took a backseat, as the shoe of choice became Crocs (I may or may not now own a pair, myself). Now, as many of us enter back into the office, we find ourselves in a unique fashion moment. Will high heels make a comeback? How will society handle the return to “hard pants?” Will people be required to tuck in their shirts?
Many employers are leaving dress code up to their employees and good judgement. Elastic waistbands and flip flops may be a bit too casual, but (for most) being suited and booted is no longer an expectation either. The trends that we are seeing within our industry suggest that the new standard for corporate wear will live somewhere in the middle. We’ve seen it referred to as “Business Comfort” or “Power Casual.” Whatever you want to call it, we like it! Polished comfort that’s smart, stylish, and incredibly versatile!
